Simply Walk Around It Level 1 – Walk Around

Level 1 teaches the meme in practice: a kill brick sits where a jump would normally go, but you can simply walk around it if you choose the correct path along the wall edge.

Stage layout and goal

Level 1 is the onboarding stage for Simply Walk Around It and the foundation for the Simply Walked Around it badge route. A kill brick blocks the direct path across a pit or obstacle. Jumping would clear it in a normal obby, but jump is disabled here. The solution is to walk along the side of the obstacle, hugging the outer edge until you are past the kill brick, then continue forward.

This stage mirrors Electracy's original meme video: when a wall or hazard is only one stud thick from your approach angle, walking around the side is faster and safer than trying forbidden jumps. Most players clear Level 1 within a few attempts if they understand that any contact with the kill brick resets them.

Recommended approach

Start by walking to the side of the kill brick with the widest walkway. Position your camera so forward movement follows the curve of the path, not into the brick. Use gentle W taps instead of holding sprint if you overshoot corners.

On PC, comma and period are optional on Level 1 but good practice for later stages. Align against the outer wall before turning the corner around the kill brick. On mobile, drag camera slowly before each turn.

Common mistakes

Running into the kill brick from diagonal movement is the top failure. Players strafe too early and clip the brick's corner hitbox. Another mistake is panicking and spamming jump, which does nothing and wastes time.

Camera drift while walking causes gradual turns into the hazard. Reset camera frequently. If you fall off the platform edge, you likely took the outer path too wide — hug the safe wall slightly more.

After Level 1

Clearing Level 1 proves you understand pathing without jump. Level 2 immediately punishes sloppy camera work with a one-stud gap. Read our Level 2 Tight Gap page and Camera Alignment guide before rushing ahead. Badge hunters should note that Level 1 alone does not award Simply Walked Around it — you must finish the full obstacle course #1 without jumping.
